AFTER SURGERY CARE
1. Keep bandage on site and
keep DRY for 24-48 hours
2. If bleeding occurs,
apply firm, constant pressure to the area for 20 minutes and keep area elevated
until bleeding stops. If you are
still experiencing difficulties
controlling the bleeding, please call
206-819-8731 to reach
the on-call provider.
3. After the first 24-48
hours, remove bandage and cleanse area with hydrogen peroxide or soap &
water and apply an antibacterial ointment such as Polysporin. These are available for purchase at all
major drug stores.
4. Follow this procedure
twice daily until you return for suture removal in 5, 7, 10, 12, 14, 21 days.
5. After the first 24-48
hours, you may shower; wash your hair, shave, etc.
6. Avoid tension on the
suture site, if possible.
7. Call office if signs of
infection occur (such as an increase in redness, swelling, heat, or pain, and yellow
or green discharge).
8. Tylenol ES or a similar
pain relief medication (such as Advil) may be used for pain or discomfort
following the surgery.
